Mind the gap!

Mind the gap!

Ok, my apologies for leaving you all in the lurch for so long, wondering whether or not I had managed to “mind the gap” or was eternally lost in the underground tube tunnels of London, destined to eat rats and old tube timetables until one day people would tell ghost stories at the London Dungeon about the girl who stepped too little! Phew, eerie thought! No, I am in fact well, alive and possibly kicking after the week I’ve had!

Stay tuned… the next installment will be here very soooOOOoooOOOOo0n. (Sorry, got a bit carried away!)

P.S How did you guess Sean Connery, Charlie?!

MH140 – Kuala Lumpur

2010
08.25

Ok, so I lied. In my last post I clearly stated that my next entry would be from London. It would have been if it didn’t take so many years to get from one side of the world to the other! I’m currently stealing some Starbucks Wifi with another 25 people and preparing to jump on the final leg of the journey and what better way to kill some time than to people watch (i’ve been mesmerised by a lovely little Malaysian women practicing Tai Chi) and write to you all.

Here are some interesting facts about Kuala Lumpur – write them done as I might quiz you later!

Petrona Twin Towers

Petrona Twin Towers

The Petrona Twin Towers in the city centre are still the world’s tallest twin towers. You may remember them from one of the best Sean Connery movies of all time – Entrapment.

Other than that, I couldn’t find too much else to entertain you with. That’s not to say that KL isn’t fantastic, but when you have been on a plane since before midnight and unable to sleep for more than ten minutes due to turbulence and a vivid dream about the plane crashing it’s a little too tiring to get that excited!

Doesn’t mean you get out of the quiz though…

Q. Who did I sit next to on the plane?

Did I getcha?

The night before Brit-mas!

Until London...

Until London...

Twas the night before Brit-mas and all through the house, two creatures were still rushing around frantically trying to put the finishing touches on the pack. It really is quite difficult to pack your entire life into 20 kilograms! After much procrastination and a room full of mess, I managed to complete my first pack. After biting my nails and making some truly brutal decisions my first pack came in at 17 kilos – who wouldda thunk it!

After some very welcome dinner guests (Tom, Sarah, Lou and Phil) and some fantastic Greek food, I am now preparing for the night to come to an end. I may not even get this post up as the lovely people of Optus just informed me that my connection will be shut off at 12am instead of at the end of work tomorrow, (oh how I will not miss you Optus) so I better get cracking.

It’s strange to think that I have now said my goodbyes and (apart from a weirdly scheduled Dentist appointment tomorrow at 1pm) will be leaving for the longest time I will have spent away from you all. Please promise to Skype and keep me updated with all of your news. I’m not that far away!

Until London,

3 DAYS TO GO!

Who's a fake mo!

Who's a fake mo?!

So the festivities have begun to wind down and I have the headache to prove it! Last night was the high light of a month full of catch-ups, visits, drinks, wines on the deck, coffees and pop overs. Organised completely by Lou, the night was definitely one for the books (or at the very least, the blog). The evening’s festivities began at the usual venue with Charles and Lou – albeit a very stiff Charles whose only dance move option for the evening would have been a very limited version of the “Robot”. Then it was  on to Vespa for the main event. What a fabulous place! Lou had organised the room upstairs which consisted of a massive square table, big enough to house for all 25 of us. We had a fantastic night, filled with fabulous food (the cinnamon pumpkin pizza was to die for), enough wine to last us well into closing time (with some left for the staff) and the opportunity for Lou to sound one of the most incredible iPod playlists of all time! After some kind words of advice from all our our friends (and a particularly weird bit of info from Nova about sleeping in a silk sleeping bag, naked on the plane), we set off to Chalk to continue the celebrations. Thanks to all of you for showing up, giving us your support (I think we will need it for the next year) and for the best company a Friday night could ask for! Check out the photos on the tab above. I look forward to your comments.

5 DAYS TO GO

2010

I'm leaving when?!

EEK!  (No, not angry – what day is it?!?)

So it is officially getting pretty close to crunch time. You know it’s getting to that point when you become aware that you won’t be around to watch next week’s episode of Packed to the Rafters (no judgement – it’s great Australian drama!) But, on the flip side, all of the wonderful going away celebrations are in full swing.

Last night we caught up with the Stock clan which is always eye-opening! After too much food, champagne, some delightfully alarming dinner conversation and the possible onset of sickness (after Pete’s going away do on Saturday), we were showered with enough love and attention to last the next twelve months – hopefully! Thanks for all the effort Mum.

The next big event? The final WiNe TiMe hosted by Lou tomorrow night. Although this will be a fantastic night, (and one I have been looking forward to since wine time began many years ago – yes I knew it would come to this) some tears may be shed. On the bright side – stay tuned for some hilarious photos.

See you tomorrow.
